In 1770, to celebrate the marriage of the Dauphin, the future Louis XVI, and Marie-Antoinette; “The clothes sparkled more in the candlelight. It is surprising how this light enhances and makes the gold and silver shine while the daylight erases their vividness. These flashes, combined with the illuminated Hall of Mirrors made a great impact“ and highlighted “the lords and ladies sumptuous attire” and the “fancy dress of the masked crowd.
